Fashion History Exploration

The Ask

This project was a three part assignment completed through the duration of the semester. The ask was to give a brief history of womenswear, menswear, and designer contribution in each presentation. The exploration is split into three general time frames: Victorian, Edwardian, 1920s as the first, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s as the second, and 1960s, 1970s, 1980s as the final iteration.

Process

Throughout the semester, we spent approximately 1-2 weeks on each era of fashion. We would have one day of lecture and the other day dedicated to working on the slides for that given decade/or era. The first project began with the Victorian Era, and our professor encouraged us to utilize provided recorded lectures to synthesize the information into one cohesive slide deck highlighting womenswear, menswear, and a designer contribution. After the Victorian, was the Edwardian era and WWII. I then again utilized the recorded lectures to conduct my research, and repeated the process for the 1920s. The final presentation for the first exploration was all three of those eras, included a picture example on each slide. The pictures were properly cited and put under a final sources slide.

As we continued forward with the timeline in the semester, I completed the same process of researching womenswear, menswear, and designer contribution based on the recorded lectures provided. The second presentation focused on the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, and the final was 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. For each presentation I sourced picture examples and cited them in the correct format at the end of the presentation.

Outcome
