About Me
Hi, I’m Amalia Alexander- a fourth year Fashion Merchandising student with a minor in Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University. I have a deep appreciation for fashion, art, and history, and I’m passionate about exploring how all those thing connect in my career. I aspire to one day work as a museum curator, where I can bring my passion to life through engaging exhibits to show to the world. Ambitious, creative, and dedicated to my work, I’m constantly seeking out opportunities to connect with others and grow in my career through fashion and history.
My Career
As a Fashion Merchandising major, there are many different job opportunities and a wide range of paths to take your career. Everything I do is centered around meaning, and I was in search for a career in fashion that would give meaning to my life and quench my thirst for creativity and learning. My plan to become a museum curator sits at that intersection of creativity, ambition, and meaning that makes me excited to learn and grow in this particular field. After I graduate from VCU, my plan is to acquire a Master’s degree at FIT for Museum Studies.
My Passions
Being raised by two architects, I was brought up with a view on the world through a curious and artistic lens. I love all things humanities, and spend my free time journaling, listening to music, or reading my magazines. I was raised going to museums and encouraged to think about the deeper questions of life, leading me to seek a fulfilled career. I am particularly interested in fashion history as it allows me to make an impact on the world around me through a medium I can connect with most!
